David Yost, The Yost Group
SVL: How long in business?
DY: I’ve been selling real estate since 2004. It continues to be an enjoyable business for me.
SVL: What geographic areas and types of homes ?
DY: We’ve sold all types of homes in Silicon Valley, from entry level to multi-million dollar luxury properties. A partial list of areas where we’ve helped sellers or buyers would include: Almaden, Blossom Valley, Cambrian, Willow Glen, Campbell, Morgan Hill, the Rose Garden and Los Gatos.
SVL: Percentage of buyers versus sellers?
DY: About 75% sellers and 25% buyers
SVL: Did you have a specific career plan when you went to college?
DY: No. I thought about being an engineer, but ended up graduating from UCLA with a degree in economics and a minor in computer science. As it turns out, that’s a helpful background to have when selling real estate!
SVL: What are some of your favorite interests and hobbies that you enjoy?
DY: I enjoy the gym when I can get there, but sometimes it’s more fun to go to the park with my four-year-old son, Andrew, where he loves to run and climb.
SVL: What is one thing you change about San Jose?
DY: I’d have BART run up the middle of Hwy 101.
SVL: If you could give a 16-year-old advice what would it be?
DY: Choose your friends wisely and if you work hard, you’ll be amazed what you can accomplish.
SVL: Can you tell us something about the early year?
DY: I grew up in Almaden Valley in the 80’s and 90’s. When I look back, it seems like an idyllic childhood. That’s a big reason why my wife and I decided to raise our family there.
SVL: How have your parents influenced you?
DY: In personality, I would say that I am more like my dad, but every day I try to pick up on some of my mother's personality traits that make her so successful in this business. Selling a home can be an extremely emotional undertaking and she has always been very successful in connecting with our clients.
