To the 50,000 fans who filled Levi’s Stadium to capacity on May 17, this was not merely another concert.

U2 started the concert on the smaller stage closer to the audience in a more intimate setting.  They started out by performing songs prior to the Joshua Tree Album release.  During the song “Pride in the Name of Love” which is a song about Dr. Martin Luther King jr’s assassination a large screen displayed the words to his “I Have a Dream” speech.

When the band kicked off the “Joshua Tree” song list the huge screen was lit up as the band performed on the larger stadium stage.  As the band performed their hits from “Joshua Tree” there was video in the background of some great shots of desert scenes that we’re shot by the original photographer of the “Joshua Tree” album cover.
I saw U2 almost two years to the date when they appeared at the SAP Center on May 19, 2015.  The band is tight as ever with Adam Clayton on bass, Larry Mullen Jr on drums and of course the very talented Edge on guitar.  Bono was right on this evening …. It was great to hear one of my favorites, “I Will Follow.”

I think I can speak on behalf of the 50,000 fans at Levi Stadium, we we’re certainly glad that the rock band included the Bay Area as a stop on its Joshua Tree tour.
