Meet Craig McGrouther, Realtor, Wihtol Group  Intero Real Estate, Los Altos

Q: How long have you been in the Real Estate business?
CM: I got into Real Estate one month after I graduated from the University of Arizona in May of 2016. I started working as an assistant for about 6 months until I got my Real Estate Salesperson License early in January of 2017.

Q: What geographic areas and types of properties do you handle?
CM: I cover the entire peninsula, from San Francisco to San Jose and also parts of Fremont. However, I am from Menlo Park and I eventually want to focus primarily in the Menlo Park, Atherton and Palo Alto area due to my connection base being from there.

I will handle any type of property, and I would love to eventually get involved in the commercial investment side of real estate when I acquire enough capital.

Q: What designations or certifications do you hold?
CM: As I stated earlier, I graduated from The University of Arizona, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Regional Development, with a minor in Communications. I also have a Real Estate Salesperson License. Many people say in this industry that you do not ‘need’ to go college, and although there are plenty of successful people in real estate that did not attend a 4-year university, I strongly believe that the life lessons you learn, the courses you take, and the connections you make in college are extremely valuable and can’t be priced.

Q: What specific marketing systems and approaches will you use to sell a home?
CM: My team and I use various different marketing strategies to help our sellers get the highest dollar amount for their home. When we have a listing, I will cold call and door knock the surrounding neighborhood to inform them that a property in the area is hitting the market, and I will also tell them the times in which our team will be holding the open house. We will run Facebook ads for the property as well if we feel it’s needed. We of course put it on the MLS, so every agent can see it, unless the seller wants to keep the property off-market.

Q: If you had to make one prediction about what the Silicon Valley Real Estate market will be like in 2020 ... what would it be?
CM: My one prediction is that the trend of low inventory remains. With the price of homes increasing at an insane rate I think we will see more and more parents passing down their homes to their kids. Less inventory will cause the market to remain a sellers’ market.

Five Things About Craig McGrouther

1. If you could have lunch with someone famous who would it be and why?
I would love to share lunch with Tom Brady, not only because he has the supermodel wife and 5 Super Bowl rings. He is the special type of person that can will his way to success in anything he would set his mind to. His drive and work ethic is something we should all try to emulate. His drive and will commands the respect of his peers and that’s something to be celebrated.

2. What book are you currently reading?
I am currently reading my cousin’s fitness book ‘Inside The Mind of A Personal Trainer’.

3. What inspires you?
My parents. My Dad has had a very successful career in the Finance industry. And my Mom has never taken a day off with her work of raising 4 boys. They are the perfect role models in every sense of the phrase. They have shown me how to work and what you need to do in order to be successful with work and with personal relationships.

4. What is one thing you would change in Silicon Valley?
I would love a subway system like they have in New York. The Bay Area is only getting denser and traffic is the 2nd worse in the nation. If they were a better mode of public transportation to go along with Caltrain and Bart, I think the traffic problem could be reduced.

5. Do you have a favorite sports team?
I am extremely passionate about the 49ers. Although we have had a tough stretch of years, I still would never miss a game on Sunday. I absolutely love the head coaching/general manger combination of Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch. Those two have already won me over and I’m very glad Jed York got the right guys. Once we upgrade our personnel and give Jimmy G and Shanahan an off-season to work together, I think we can quickly become a playoff contender.
